Crabeater Seal 2018 Stamp and Coin Cover

This wonderfully coloured coin depicts a swimming crabeater seal, a species which lives in the ice-pack zone surrounding Antarctica. The seals, which grow to about 2.5m in length, can plunge 250m into the near freezing waters. Despite their name, the light-coloured seals eat krill, not crabs, filtering out the tiny crustaceans through specially adapted teeth.
